The Blake School seeks to hire a dynamic, creative and reflective Upper School Social Studies teacher who can help us continue to meet our mission of providing a diverse and supportive educational environment to prepare students for lives as responsible world citizens. This is a one-year, part-time position, for the 2019-2020 school year, responsible for teaching two departmental courses each semester. Teaching practices should include student-centered discussion-based classrooms, inquiry approaches to history and the social sciences, and creative curriculum design to inspire community engagement in extending student learning beyond the classroom experience. Upper School faculty engage with the broader community experience by chaperoning school events and participating in school meetings, committees and events. Opportunities to coach and supervise co-curricular activities are also available.
