General Job Description: St. Anne’s Episcopal School in Middletown, Delaware seeks a spirited and talented individual who enjoys working with middle school students and has 3-5 years of teaching experience. Our teachers focus on the intellectual, social, physical, artistic, and spiritual growth of each child to create a learning environment where each student is known, loved, challenged, and inspired. In addition to providing math instruction, middle school teachers serve as advisors to grade-level advisory groups of 6-8 students. The ability to teach drama, computer science, robotics, and/or coach a sport is a plus. This position would begin August 19, 2019.
Teach middle school mathematics, including Algebra I, with a focus on building critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
Differentiate instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying abilities, attitudes, and cultural backgrounds
Coach Math League - a statewide math competition for 7th and 8th-grade students
Understand the fundamental developmental stages in the social, emotional, and academic lives of middle school students
Use technology to enhance learning and communicate effectively
Establish and maintain standards of student behavior that is aligned with our core values: respect, responsibility, and compassion
Communicate with parents on student progress
Attend specific school events/activities outside of the school day and supervise as needed
Participate in curriculum development and serve on faculty committees
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, faculty, and staff
Attend weekly Episcopal chapel service and other assemblies
