The Darrow School seeks an English teacher who demonstrates enthusiasm and creativity in teaching writing and literary analysis at all levels of high school. The English curriculum emphasizes a student-centered, process oriented approach, using a wide variety of source materials while focusing on written communication, critical thinking, and active curriculum. This person will teach four to fives courses, and collaborate with colleagues in choosing materials and designing curricula. The candidate should have a degree in English or another closely related field of study, as well as expertise in teaching writing skills and a passion for teaching focused on the student and their development of investigative, analytical, collaborative and writing processes.

Bachelor’s degree in the discipline you wish to teach; advanced degree encouraged (state certification not required)
Ability to coach one or more sport and/or lead an afternoon program
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with all stakeholders, including administration, faculty, parents and students
Ability to drive the school’s vehicles; training will be provided
Ability to work outdoors
Valid driver’s license
Experience in a residential program for adolescents
Good communications skills, both oral and written
Commitment to the 24 hours a day, 7 days a week life of a boarding school
