Congressional School seeks Preschool Lead Teacher for the 2019-2020 school year. The Preschool teacher will partner with the Preschool team to plan and implement a challenging academic curriculum that encourages each student to reach his or her full potential. The teacher will also create a warm, nurturing and inclusive classroom environment in which each child is known, valued and loved. Qualified candidates will be knowledgeable about current research relevant to the learning needs of three- and four-year-old students.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan and implement age appropriate curriculum for children
Employ a variety of teaching methods to ensure optimal learning for all students
Promote learning in the areas of social-emotional, language, cognitive and physical development
Exhibit a high level of engagement and enthusiasm throughout the day.
Establish positive home/school partnership with each family in the classroom
Understand the developmental milestones of children ages 3-6
Actively seek opportunities for professional development in early childhood education
Provide information to parents about student performance
Perform divisional responsibilities expected of faculty (for example, writing report card comments, supervising students outside of class times, attending faculty meetings, etc.)
Ensure proper supervision for the safety and well-being of all students.
Integrate meaningful and appropriate use of technology and STEM activities in the classroom
Attend school events
Actively support the school’s vision, mission and core values
Perform other duties as assigned
Ideal candidates will have:
Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Masters preferred
Minimum of 2 years’ Early Childhood teaching experience
Familiarity with current research in reading and math instruction, especially as it applies to young children
Proficient knowledge of the academic and social emotional development of young children
Strong initiative and organizational skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
An ability to work in a joyful, collegial and collaborative environment
A sense of humor, warm personality, and growth mindset
