St. Anselm’s Abbey School (SAAS) is looking for an energetic and creative full-time Director of Advancement (DA) with fundraising experience. This is a rare career opportunity for an innovator to be on the ground floor, growing a development effort currently focused on a $10 million Capital Campaign.
The DA reports to and is directed by the President of the School and is part of the executive leadership team. He/she works closely with the Head of School, Alumni Director, Communications Director and other key staff. The DA must be adaptable, flexible, and collaborative. The DA must be comfortable in a rapidly evolving environment focused on constituent engagement and performance from multiple fundraising streams – some of which are in their nascent stages. Identifying support from individuals, corporations, and foundations, the successful DA will provide leadership in the following areas:
Volunteer management including trustee, alumnae and parent relations
Annual, planned, and major giving including a Fall Scholarship Gala
With previous fundraising experience, the successful candidate will apply best practices with a hands-on approach to develop and deepen relationships with alumni, past/present parents and staff, as well as external constituents to help set and reach fundraising goals.
Major Functions and Responsibilities:
Oversee (with the President), the current $10 million Capital Campaign
Advise the President, the Board of Trustees, the Headmaster and staff on revenue generation and donor relations efforts
Cultivate and maintain long-term, strong, and collaborative relationships with key stakeholders and organizations including major individual donors, foundations, and corporate contributors
Provide leadership in development of all fundraising initiatives for SAAS
Develop robust programs to increase restricted and unrestricted giving
Raise funds to grow endowment
Develop and implement comprehensive strategies to secure sustainable fundraising
Develop annual revenue targets that demonstrate year-over-year growth in all areas of fundraising, including the endowment
Manage development budgets to achieve stated revenue targets, as determined in collaboration with the President, the Chief Financial Officer, and development team during the budget process
Ensure School leadership has timely information/key metrics to measure progress
Set development staff goals, monitor work, and evaluate results
