Montgomery School, an independent, co-educational day school serving prekindergarten through grade eight in Chester Springs, PA, is seeking a Language Arts Department Chair experienced in teaching middle school language arts. Along with teaching 7th and 8th grade language arts classes, the Language Arts Department Chair will provide strategic vision and leadership for the scope and sequence of the School’s Pre-K through 8th grade language arts curriculum. A track record of equipping students to write, read, and think critically is strongly desired, particularly as they transition to high school.
We desire a candidate marked by passion, energy, palpable care and investment in the lives of middle school students. The ideal candidate will possess prior middle school teaching experience, excellent communication skills, proficient use of instructional technology in the classroom and a polished background in differentiated instruction and assessment. The candidate will expertly infuse the student experience with opportunities for project-based learning and the application of 21st century skills, while prioritizing the mastery of essential skills in the language arts. The candidate will integrate the beauty of literature in teaching students to think and communicate with depth and insight.
