Bullis School seeks an innovative, energetic, and dedicated candidate for the role of Upper School Chemistry/Physics teacher beginning Academic Year 2019-20. This position begins August 2019 and involves teaching five classes, as well as co-curricular activities, including student advising, as assigned by the division principal.
Successful teachers at Bullis are energized by curriculum development and are grounded in current learning theory. Bullis Biology teachers keep up to date with current advances in chemistry/physics, teaching resources, pedagogy and national objectives. This position involves collaboratively researching and crafting differentiated, engaging lessons for students with a range of learning abilities, as well as providing daily substantive feedback that fosters student achievement. The ideal candidate will have experience planning student-centered, innovative lessons in course-aligned teams, and leading students in inquiry-based experimentations. The candidate will value interdisciplinary thinking and can expertly guide students as they develop a deeper understanding of our interconnected world through the study of science.
Candidates will utilize technology that efficiently enhances instruction. Each year Bullis science teachers design a research, experimental design and STEM project in which students’ practice Bullis' core values while gaining deeper understanding of the natural world around us. Bullis science teachers also utilize laboratory notebooks, lab practica and authentic assessments to assess student’s content as well as their laboratory skills.
Qualified candidates should possess following education & experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Physics, or related field (required.)
Master’s Degree in Chemistry, Physics, or related field (preferred.)
Minimum of three years teaching, experience in secondary education preferred

Committed to include diversity and inclusion into objective educational programs
Flexible approach to learning, particularly regarding new technology systems and hardware
Detail-oriented, with the capacity to effectively and efficiently manage numerous small and large tasks
Proficiency with basic productivity and media software
Proficiency with Windows and Apple OS, Microsoft Office, cloud computing (Google Docs, etc.), and other productivity and media software
Working knowledge of technology systems, including networks and hardware management
Enjoy working in a cooperative, team-oriented environment
Experience with Integrated Performance Assessments is highly desirable
Teaching certificates are not required
