The Assistant Principal will assist in administering a comprehensive and/or alternative 9-12 high school in accordance with state, county, and district regulations, policies, and procedures. S/he will be part of a management team that provides leadership in curriculum, instruction, guidance, discipline, facilities, management, and support services. Specific tasks will be determined according to the collective strengths of the team. Major duties shared by the team include:
Establishing an atmosphere conducive to learning for all students
Setting high expectations for faculty, staff and students
Evaluating staff as assigned
Promoting professional growth for all staff
Ensuring effective guidance services and health and human services programs
Setting goals for the school
Implementation of accountability and assessment activities to determine the effectiveness of programs in attaining school/district goals
Planning, coordinating, implementing and evaluating in-service, pilot, and regular programs and their effectiveness in attaining school goals.
Serving as administrative liaison with departments concerning curriculum improvement of classroom instruction, and implementation of school priorities
Ensuring effective articulation with our feeder elementary districts
Ensuring compliance with federal, state and local policies and procedures
Building parent and community support
Maintaining a safe and orderly campus conducive to student learning and progress

About Mountain View Los Altos High School District
The Mountain View Los Altos High School District serves approximately 3600 students in grades 9-12.
The district operates three high schools: Mountain View and Los Altos High Schools, both recognized as California Distinguished Schools and ranked in the top 2% nationally; and Alta Vista High School, a Model Continuation School.
