The Village School of Naples continues to grow and is accepting resumes for a part-time Drama Teacher for the 2019-2020 school year. The position of Drama Teacher educates students in grades 3 – 12 in the classroom and is responsible for directing shows. Working with and under the supervision of the Director of Performing Arts, the Drama Teacher is responsible for producing quality productions from beginning auditions to the final show. The Performing Arts department contributes to interdisciplinary S.T.E.A.M., project-based learning, and creating opportunities for student experiential learning. This position requires working some hours outside of the regular school day.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan and carry out dynamic lessons
Plan for differentiation of curriculum to meet student needs
Plan learning environment with a variety of learning styles in mind
Plan, organize, manage, and implement at least 2 dynamic theater productions during the School Year for students
Conduct auditions, rehearsals, and direct the final production
Work with faculty and staff in the development and coordination of choreography, music, set, technology, and costumes
Model Christ Skills, emphasizing this conduct model in all areas at all times
Sustain ongoing communication between parents and school
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for each student
Support the mission and vision of the school’s learning philosophy
Maintain and follow daily routines and schedules
Other duties may be assigned by the Director of Performing Arts or Division Head
Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in a related field.
At least 5 years’ experience in theater, musical theater, and choreography.
Must desire to develop a program for talented students.
Technology skills must be strong and representative of an educated professional and are required to teach students in the classroom as well as to maintain records and communications.
Working knowledge of technology as it relates to directing theater productions.
Excellent communication and organizational skills required. Spoken and written language skills must be strong and representative of an educated professional.
Ability to demonstrate a strong support for the stated learning philosophy of The Village School.
Must be able to support the school’s Christian environment.
Must enjoy working with children and foster an encouraging learning environment.
Physically, the position of teacher requires sitting, walking, standing for long periods of time, and ability to lift up to 10 lbs. without assistance.
