The Program for Young Children (PYC) serves more than 75 children, aged three- to six-years-old.
Columbus School for Girls seeks to hire an energetic and creative full-time Studio Teacher to begin in the 2019-2020 academic year. This position is a full-time, 10-month position, following the faculty calendar. Major Functions and Responsibilities:
Work collaboratively with the preschool and kindergarten classrooms to integrate the highest quality arts education and care for our students.
Demonstrate interest in working with the Reggio Emilia approach to learning.
Plan curriculum that supports best practices for early childhood.
Supervise students to ensure their safety and well-being.
Demonstrate willingness to support and guide children to research, document, and express their ideas through multiple materials.
Provide professional development and classroom modeling to preschool and kindergarten teachers on the essential components of Reggio Emilia studio work
Report on student growth using portfolios and continuums.
Initiate studio-related projects and partnerships in both school and local community.
Experience, Characteristics, Qualities:
Bachelor’s degree in art or art-related field required.
Experience working with or in a Reggio Emilia inspired environment preferred.
An understanding of the value of an all-girl education and the eagerness to learn about the best ways to help young women of promise to reach their full potential as learners and leaders.
Excellent communication skills, a genuine appreciation for and an understanding of the development of young children, a sense of humor, and the ability to work well within a diverse, collaborative environment.
