The Buckley School, Los Angeles' oldest K-12 co-educational preparatory school, has an opening for a full-time Chinese Teacher beginning in the fall of 2019. This teacher will be responsible for all aspects of teaching the curriculum including alignment within the framework of the department program. The teacher will also be responsible for an advisory of 6-8 students and is expected to be a collaborative and engaged community member at Buckley, enthusiastically participating in the World Languages department and with the greater faculty. Such participation will include serving on an all-school committee, eagerly finding ways to collaborate with peers, and participating in professional development.
Previous experience teaching Chinese at the middle or upper school level
Demonstrated competency in diversity, multiculturalism, inclusion, equity and social justice
Proficiency in using technology in instruction
Exceptional interpersonal skills
Proven ability to collaborate across departments
A profound respect for children and adolescents.
Preferred candidates will have
Masters degree, and /or Doctorate and/or teaching credential
Demonstrated leadership in diversity, multiculturalism, inclusion, equity and social justice.
Commitment to proficiency-oriented approach in language instruction and familiarity with ACTFL guidelines and Can-Do statements
