The Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School, a pluralistic community Jewish day school, seeks qualified candidates to fill the position of Junior Kindergarten General Studies Teacher for the 2019-2020 academic year. Our “Gurim”/Junior Kindergarten program is designed to provide an academically rigorous, school-based early childhood program for students who do not meet the September 1st birthday cut-off date for enrollment in Kindergarten and have experienced three years of preschool.
The teaching position will require an individual who demonstrates a passion for early childhood education, training and background in special education, a palpable love for and warmth with young children, and a whole-child approach to teaching which includes differentiation and attention to social-emotional development. Candidates will possess the following skills and dispositions:

experience with integrating technology into teaching practice
a commitment to partnering with colleagues within and across subject disciplines and grade levels

A Bachelor’s degree with certification in Early Childhood Education is required, with a Master’s degree preferred and a minimum of three to five years’ of successful, formal teaching experience in a public or independent school. As the successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining our MSDE Department of Child Care licensing, strong organizational and administrative skills, knowledge of MSDE child care regulations COMAR 13A.16, and experience with NAEYC accreditation are highly desirable.
