The Langley School, a PS-8 independent school in McLean, Virginia, seeks an experienced lower school teacher to cover a grade four parental leave in August 2019. Guided by the theory and practice of the Responsive Classroom, our teachers focus on the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth of each child to create a nurturing and stimulating environment in which to learn. Lower school teachers work as members of collaborative teams to deliver a program that is child-centered and focused on developing a lifelong love of learning for our students. Classroom teachers provide inquiry-based instruction in language arts, math, social studies, and life skills.

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in education, previous teaching experience, excellent written and verbal communication skills, comfort with integrating technology into the curriculum, interest in collaborating with colleagues, commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment, and a passion for working with children required. Experience implementing the Writers and Readers Workshop models and Math in Focus a plus.
