Middle School Humanities: English Teacher St. Anne’s-Belfield School seeks a full-time English teacher in our Humanities program. In Grades 7 & 8, English and history are scheduled separately by discipline but are interdisciplinary and collaborative in their approach. The Humanities English teacher works closely with a partner history teacher to develop and implement an innovative curriculum. As an institution, St. Anne’s-Belfield encourages risk-taking and creativity, creates and sustains a culture of pleasure reading, and integrates empathy, awareness and respect for differences in every classroom and course in explicit ways. A successful teacher in this position has the capacity to foster in students an enthusiasm for the exploration of ideas and concepts in a student-centered classroom. This role relies on someone who collaborates effectively with fellow teachers, members of the Grades 7 - 12 Humanities department, and the middle school faculty as a whole. St. Anne’s-Belfield also affirms the enduring value of the teacher-advisor-coach philosophy. Experience teaching middle school-aged students and a masters degree in English or a related humanities field are preferred.
