Founded in 1912, The Park School of Buffalo has the distinction of being one of the oldest Progressive schools in the country. Park is an independent, co-educational school serving approximately 300 students in Pre-K-12.
The Park School is seeking an experienced Science Teacher with STEM focus to teach courses in middle and upper school and to develop new programming in engineering and STEM. Park offers a wide range of science programming, beginning with introductions to Physical and Life Sciences in the 7th and 8th grades and moving to a progression of Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics in the Upper School. Electives in a wide variety of science topics are offered, based on student interest and instructor capabilities. The Park School has recently opened a state-of-the-art science building that includes a Field Station and a Center for Campus Inquiry that will highlight naturalist collections from our 34-acre school campus and connect with the wider community through innovative programming.

Roles and Responsibilities
The Park School of Buffalo engages the whole student in a diverse and creative community that nurtures the joy and responsibility of active learning in all, from our youngest learners to our graduates, who leave with the skills essential to college success and the confidence to serve and lead. And, it all starts with faculty such as Science/STEM teacher.
Teach courses in middle school (Physical/Life Science) and upper school (Physical Science electives and/or STEM-focused) courses.
Develop and implement curriculum and lesson plans that will foster knowledge and skills essential to effectively teach students in each grade level.
Create hands-on, inquiry-based, project-based lessons that build excitement for science.
Collaborate with faculty across content areas to create cross-curricular opportunities for students in science classes.
Demonstrate scientific concepts using models, technology, and other standard or teacher-prepared instructional aids.
Evaluate each student’s progress in their scientific knowledge and skills.
Communicate with parents to discuss the individual student’s progress.
Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
Be a positive role model for students, support mission of school.
Assist in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physical Science field
Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience at the 7-12 level
Ability to contribute to school community outside of the classroom as an athletic coach, student advisor, student club leader, and/or otherwise preferred
Geographic flexibility is preferred
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Moderate amount of walking across campus is required
Able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Science required; Master’s Degree preferred
