Middle School French Teacher - History and Literature International School of Brooklyn seeks a dynamic, hardworking, full-time Middle School French teacher to teach History and Literature in French for the 2019-20 school year and beyond. The ideal candidate must be a native French speaker who has studied history and literature and taught one or both subjects. The individual must also be someone who understands and enjoys young people (ages 11-14) and is a skilled teacher who can inspire them. Other ideal attributes include commitment, patience, positive energy, sense of humor, and clarity.
Description of position
Teach 6th Grade French Language and Literature, 7th Grade History (Individuals & Societies in French), 8th Grade History (Individuals & Societies in French)
Teach an ungraded elective class of the teacher's choice
Work with students who need extra help with French studies
Serve as advisor (homeroom teacher)
Teaching experience, preferably in the independent school world; experience teaching in an IB school is a plus
Degree in Literature, History, or related subjects
Supportive, student-centered approach and ability to differentiate instruction
Desire to mentor students in an advisory role outside the classroom
