St. Martin’s Episcopal School seeks a creative, energetic, and visionary educator to become the Lower School Art Teacher for the 2019-2020 school year.
This opportunity will require a faculty member to possess the ability to be generally flexible, good humor, the ability to work effectively as a team member, and the confidence and knowledge to be a curricular leader. The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree, with a teaching certificate in elementary education or art education and three to five years of experience teaching art and design in an elementary school environment.
Other responsibilities and necessary competencies include:
Demonstrating best practices in teaching the Visual Arts
Exhibiting excellent teaching skills and a willingness to teach visual art to students 3 years old through Fourth Grade
Developing a love of art in students in various media through the fundamental elements of design in the Lower School art room
Working effectively with students of different artistic abilities
Working with classroom teachers to enhance academic curricular learning
Overseeing Lower School visual art budget in collaboration with Visual Arts Chair
Understanding the development of Lower School students and possessing a passion for working with this age group
Interacting effectively with parents, colleagues, and members of the administration
Willingness to be innovative and work with new technologies
