POSITION OVERVIEW Woodland School seeks an inspiring and nurturing Kindergarten teacher who develops students’ inquiring minds and compassionate hearts. Candidates should be passionate about teaching and have a love for children. The position requires maintaining a full teaching load, weekly recess and lunch duties, and professional meetings. Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or related field is required. Candidates with Masters and teaching certificate as well as 2-3 years elementary teaching experience preferred.
SKILLS & RESPONSIBILITIES • Experience teaching young children and possess a strong understanding of child development and social emotional learning. • Maintain ongoing collaboration with colleagues of diverse backgrounds on pedagogical approaches, curricular alignment and instructional strategies. Applicants will be required to create integrated units of study with faculty members of other disciplines in an ongoing effort to deepen student learning and model real-world connections. • Strong ability to differentiate instruction for a range of abilities and interest levels in order to provide a student-centered, hands-on approach to learning. • Adept at creating and administering a variety of student assessments to determine academic strengths and areas for improvement. • Committed to professional learning and growth by attending educational conferences and training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional and pedagogical competencies. • Invests in the life of the school by attending department/division meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, anti-bias initiatives, and any and all areas that support the student experience. • Consistent and clear communication with families to discuss their children's progress, areas of achievement, as well as to identify needed supports and create goals. • Demonstrated professional behavior, including discretion, good judgment, and integrity. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
