DUTIES: Teach applied piano lessons, piano pedagogy practicum and music theory aural skills. Supervise graduate teaching assistants who instruct piano classes. Administrative duties of Pedagogy Lab School (PPLS). Other duties as assigned. Maintain creative and scholarly activity. Participate in student recruiting as well as other service activities and professional organizations ancillary to the position.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Completed doctorate or ABD. Demonstrated high level of piano performance and effective teaching ability in studio piano and classroom. Demonstrated high level of organizational skills and interpersonal communication.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Successful university/college level teaching experience in applied piano lessons, piano pedagogy, and in music theory aural skills. Experience in supervising graduate teaching assistants. Experience administering a piano pedagogy lab school or similar. Evidence of successful program building, studio recruitment and retention. Successful experience as a collaborative pianist.
SCHOOL: The School of Music has 31 full-time and 1 part-time music faculty, and 7 staff members. It is housed in the Kimbrough Music Building, which includes a professional quality, digital recording studio.
