Woodberry Forest School, an all-boys boarding school in Central Virginia, seeks an experienced and collaborative advancement professional to cultivate parent engagement in support of the school’s strategic imperatives.
General Description: The Director of Parent Giving and Engagement reports to the Assistant Headmaster for External Affairs and is a member of the school’s senior Development team. The Director has oversight of parent giving, as well as past parent, grandparent, and friend support.
Manages and coordinates Woodberry’s giving and engagement programs with parents, grandparents, past parents, and friends.
Devises strategies to engage parent volunteer committees for annual giving and Senior Parents’ and Grandparents’ Gift Project through volunteer recruitment, management, and training.
Works collaboratively with members of the school leadership and members of the Development Office to facilitate relationships and coordinate communication efforts with major gift prospects.
Plans and executes the Senior Parent Gift. Researches parent constituency, chooses a project within Woodberry’s strategic plan, determines project goal, forms and solicits committee members, holds regular volunteer meetings, launches a strategic mini-campaign, communicates projects progress, ensures project and goal completion, and executes project dedication to include the Woodberry community.
Coordinates the creation of pertinent marketing materials and scripting for mass annual fund appeals and communications touching all of the above-mentioned constituencies.
Develops a portfolio of prospects (50+) and maintains active efforts to evaluate prospects identified through fieldwork, screening, and travel.
Creates and implements a plan for parent engagement in support of the School’s Strategic Plan and Mission Statement.
Oversees events that pertain to various parent and grandparent constituencies, including Grandparents’ Day, annual giving “Give Day,” Parent Volunteer Appreciation Events, Parent Volunteer Training Meetings, and Senior Parents’ and Grandparents’ Gift Dedication Ceremony.
Assists in the execution of Development sponsored events such as Alumni Reunion Weekend and others as determined by the Assistant Headmaster of External Affairs.
Bachelor’s degree with at least three years of fundraising experience, including a record of accomplishment in annual giving and/or major gift work.
Knowledge of the independent school and/or university environment preferred.
