This is a full-time faculty position, beginning July 1, 2019. Salary is commensurate with experience and degree held at the time of appointment. Responsibilities include:
Advance the Teacher Education program by forming positive and collaborative relationships with school and school district agencies and officials, supporting recruitment activities for the program, and continually enhancing curricular and assessment activities of the program.
Supervising student teaching practicum and internship students.
Teach elementary education methods courses in areas of specialty (prefer reading and language).
Engage in academic advisement with Teacher Education students.
Engage in customary non-instructional activities such as attend committee and faculty meetings, maintain regular office hours.
Pursue professional development appropriate to the field in which they are hired, in this case education; and be involved in church and community service opportunities.
All candidates must have an earned doctorate in education or a closely related academic discipline (Ph.D. or Ed.D.), teaching experience, and at least 3 years of successful classroom teaching (grades K-6). The university will consider someone with a master’s degree in education but it will be expected that the person will immediately enroll in a doctoral program and continued employment will be dependent upon satisfactory progress and completion of a doctorate degree. The applicant must have a current teaching license for elementary education in the state of NC or be able to apply for one. The applicant must be experientially and theologically committed to the Stone-Campbell faith tradition, and in full agreement with the school’s doctrinal statement.
