St. David’s School in Raleigh, NC seeks an accomplished, collaborative educator, who enjoys middle school students to teach 8th Grade Humanities – “The American Experience”. Well-suited candidates will be skilled writers, lovers of literature and history, and eager scholars of the field, who will inspire intellectual curiosity by fostering creative and disciplined thought, confident speaking and writing, and a genuine love of literature, rooted in a close reading of the text.
“The American Experience” course is co-taught in close collaboration with a fellow colleague and is built around primary texts of literature and history, which serve as the entry point for a deep and careful investigation of the history and culture that inform our answers to fundamental questions: What does it mean to be an American? What constitutes good citizenship? What is the American dream? How has the tension between liberty and equality shaped the story of America?
