High School French Teacher (part time) - 2019-2020
Poughkeepsie Day School, the mid-Hudson’s leading progressive, PreK-12 day school, is currently seeking candidates to fill a part time French language teaching position for our top level high school students for the 2019-2020 school year. If you teach best by working collaboratively and can ignite passion and purpose in your students, we want you to be a part of our team.
The ideal candidate will be fluent in French, have experience teaching high school age students, will be familiar with proficiency based teaching methodologies and inquiry-based learning. We are looking for a candidate who values and understands students’ language acquisition process and is passionate about collaborating with young minds to foster excitement and purpose, while guiding upper level interpretive (reading and listening) and communicative skills (speaking and writing). A successful candidate will be able to:
Collaborate with colleagues in and outside the world languages program to continue shaping that program and its goals, mainly in the high school (grades 9-12)
Work with a curriculum, and evaluate students based on standards of language acquisition (e.g., ACTFL)
