Collegiate School seeks an inspiring Spanish teacher to give students an introduction to the Spanish language and culture through our Foreign Language Exploratory (FLEX) program. Due to growth in the language program from Junior Kindergarten through grade four, we are seeking a part-time Spanish teacher for grades JK-1st. This is a part-time (15% FTE), non-benefited, 10-month faculty position.
Qualities of a successful candidate will include:
Ability to deliver and facilitate engaging, memorable lessons that keep 4-, 5-, and 6-year olds focused on early learning in Spanish
Understands and supports developmental benchmarks academically, socially, emotionally and behaviorally
Communicates effectively and respectfully with all constituents, including families of the students and classroom teachers. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required
Collaborates well with colleagues of diverse backgrounds on pedagogical approaches, curricular alignment and instructional strategies
Demonstrates professional behavior, including discretion, judgment and integrity
All prospective employees must be able to clear a background check, fingerprinting and TB screening
Experience in and commitment to the ongoing development and maintenance of an inclusive campus community
Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or Spanish, a teaching certificate or credential, or equivalent successful experience teaching in classroom settings for children aged six years old and under
Native speaker preferred
