Portfolio School, an innovative, project-based school in Tribeca, is seeking a Middle School teacher for the 2019-2020 school year. Portfolio currently serves students from K-5, and is adding a grade each year to ultimately comprise K-12.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan and prepare curriculum, appropriate to the needs, interests, experience and existing knowledge of your students;
Play a full part in curriculum development work undertaking key tasks and responsibilities as agreed within the team of teachers.
Build and maintain co-operative relationships with parents, and to communicate with them on student learning and progress, drawing attention to special skills and talents as well as to problems or difficulties.
Maintain an attractive, stimulating learning environment; to contribute to displays in the school as a whole.
Keep up-to-date with current educational thinking and practice, both by study and by attendance at courses, PD sessions and workshops reading books, articles, etc.
Participate in PD workshops, meetings, sessions and activities with other members of staff.
Organize displays of children’s work to show recognition and affirmation to the children themselves, and in this way provide stimulus and ideas for colleagues and information for parents.
Participate in periodic reviews of student and class performance in order to monitor progression and determine future priorities
Work with curriculum leaders to ensure that there is continuity across student groups.

5+ Years experience teaching at the Middle School level.
Experience working in an interdisciplinary project-based environment desired.
Experience working in a collaborative, open environment valued.
Experience developing middle school curriculum desired.
Bachelor's degree required, Master’s degree in related field preferred.
