Horizon Charter Schools (HCS) is looking for an Assistant Superintendent Business Services/Chief Business Official. Under the direction of the Superintendent, the Assistant Superintendent Business Services/Chief Business Official plans, organizes, implements, and controls HCS’s Business Services including fiscal services and other assigned functions; and assists in the formulation of policies relating to the business and financial operation of the organization.
The position is responsible for managing, directing, and integrating the broad, comprehensive business services of HCS as a collaborative team leader. The incumbent in this classification provides creative solutions for stakeholder issues and concerns. As a student-focused problem solver, the position recommends business and financial policies to the Superintendent of HCS and Board of Education in support of HCS’s mission, vision, and values while ensuring the integrity of HCS financial reports and solvency in accordance with state and federal law. HCS is authorized through Western Placer Unified School District and has provided quality, personalized educational options for more than 2,300 K-12 students in Placer, Nevada, Sutter, Yuba, Sacramento and El Dorado Counties.

The successful candidate will have:
A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field (required)
An MBA, MPA, or master’s in School Business Administration, and/or CPA licensure (desirable)
Eight years of progressive experience in three or more operational areas of business and/or financial operations management in an educational institution, governmental agency, or other entity with an annual budget of $22 million or greater (required); at least two of these years must have included direct management or supervision of professional staff
A master’s degree in one of the above-identified fields may substitute for one year of the required experience; any other combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates the candidate is likely to possess the skill, knowledge, ability, and trait characteristics essential for this classification may be considered
