Part-time Faculty position, from Wednesday, October 16, 2019 to Thursday, January 23, 2020
The Cambridge School of Weston seeks a part time science teacher to teach project-based STEAM curriculum for the 10th grade. The science department seeks a candidate with strong expertise in coding (preferably Python), Raspberry Pi, and 3D modeling, who can teach to a range of skills, learning styles, and interests. We value candidates who will be both supportive of individual students and be willing to challenge them to take meaningful risks with experimental design. Candidates should be able to offer guidance on student projects and take advantage of troubleshooting as a teaching opportunity.
Specific Responsibilities for This Position Include:
Teach two blocks (90 minutes) of STEAM per 6-week module for two modules. Topics will include basic Python structures, wiring, applications of Raspberry Pi, and 3D modeling.
Active participation in all department meetings.
Observation of STEAM classes in September for orientation to curriculum.
Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM field or equivalent required; Masters degree strongly preferred.
Minimum of two years teaching experience preferred.
Strong mastery of coding (preferably Python), Raspberry Pi, and 3D modeling
Ideally, a candidate values collaboration among colleagues and students in our school. Moreover, he/she needs to have the skill and experience to teach creative students with a broad range of learning styles and who come from diverse backgrounds. A strong candidate will also add to the diversity of perspectives within the department.
