Work with the lead teacher as a partner to create and implement an engaging, developmentally appropriate program to meet the social, emotional, cognitive and physical needs of young children based on well-documented research in early childhood development.
Assist the lead teacher with planning and preparation of materials as well as the implementation of classroom activities.
Understand the expectations of the program and take initiative to help the teacher provide for the best learning environment possible.
Collaborate with the lead teacher to create a warm, nurturing classroom atmosphere in which children feel comfortable and secure, along with an atmosphere of support and safety to encourage children to experience new skills and discover a love of learning.
Work with the lead teacher to provide positive guidance to help children navigate through their social interactions with peers and adults.
Assist in the formal and informal assessment of individual students and work closely with the lead teacher to implement differentiated activities that address the variety of learning styles and levels within the classroom.
Maintain strong interpersonal communication skills with students, parents, and colleagues.
Collaborate with fellow colleagues to maintain continuity of curriculum across grade levels.
Participate with the lead teacher in parent conferences.
Demonstrate the ability and willingness to assist in developing nature-based activities that will integrate science, math, literacy, and the arts while encouraging cooperative learning and social skills.

Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education, Master’s Degree a plus
