Harrisburg Academy is currently seeking a dynamic, innovative, and experienced first grade teacher to join our expert faculty for the 2019-20 school year. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching all core subjects to one section of first grade. Harrisburg Academy teachers are also expected to attend faculty meetings and assist with school events. Experience with Lucy Calkin’s Reading and Writing Workshop, Responsive Classroom, and inquiry-based education is highly desired.
Experience in explicit math and reading instruction
Competence in connecting with students and creating a healthy classroom community
Competence in connecting with parents
Organized and purposeful about materials and lesson plans
Collaboration with faculty and administration
Excellence in classroom management techniques
Enthusiasm for professional development and further knowledge about pedagogy, specifically the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme
Current State Police, Child Abuse, FBI clearances, a physical and a TB test are required. Deadline for submissions is Monday, July 22, 2019.
