Bullis School seeks an innovative, energetic, and dedicated candidate for the role of part-time French Teacher for the Upper and Middle School. This is a part-time position at 60% effort beginning August 2019 and involves teaching three classes (2 classes in the Upper School and 1 class in the Middle School), primarily at the novice and intermediate level, through Level III for grades 7 to 12 grades, as dictated by need. Successful teachers at Bullis are energized by curriculum development and are grounded in current learning theory. Successful foreign language teachers are grounded in current SLA theory, committed to ongoing professional development, and open to a wide range of teaching approaches to reach a diverse student population. Technology use is an ongoing and active development at Bullis for both students and faculty. Candidates should be able to creatively integrate technology to enhance student learning and engagement while working in a one-to-one student-laptop environment.
Qualified candidates should possess following education & experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in French or related field (required)
Graduate degree in French or related field (preferred)
Prior experience teaching grades 7th to 12th (preferred)
Experience teaching in a technology-rich environment
Committed to include diversity and inclusion in to objective educational programs
Direct experience with French culture is highly desirable
Experience with Integrated Performance Assessments is highly desirable
Flexible approach to learning, particularly regarding new technology systems and hardware
Detail-oriented, with the capacity to effectively and efficiently manage numerous small and large tasks
Proficiency with basic productivity and media software
Proficiency with Windows and Apple OS, Microsoft Office, cloud computing (Google Docs, etc.), and other productivity and media software
Working knowledge of technology systems, including networks and hardware management
Enjoy working in a cooperative, team-oriented environment
Teaching certificates are not required
