FUNCTION: Reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer, the Sr. Associate Director/Director of Alumni Relations is responsible for managing Cheshire Academy’s relationship with its nearly 6,000 strong global alumni community and will implement a comprehensive and sustainable program that engages its constituents through strategic communication, relationship-building, and events. Essential to cultivating volunteer leadership, the incumbent will staff and serve as primary liaison for the Alumni Leadership Association.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the planning and execution of all alumni activities, including Reunion Weekend, Homecoming, Winter Reception, Golf Outing, and regional dinners, receptions, and educational and cultural events.
Assist in the creation of online event registration forms and maintenance of the alumni web pages, including informational pages for events and tracking of event registrations.
Develop briefings to support involvement of the Head of School, Leadership Team, and/or Board of Trustees in external relations events.
Collaborate with colleagues to actively recruit or facilitate recruitment of volunteer leaders, including Alumni Leadership Association, reunion class committees, and class agents.
Support strategies to meet annual alumni giving goals and reunion giving goals
Create regional alumni club structures in major domestic cities.
Work with the Chief Advancement Officer to develop a plan for a comprehensive international alumni relations program, focusing on areas of concentration for the Academy including Korea, Hong Kong, China, and Puerto Rico.
Work with the Communications Office to develop and implement a multi-channel communications strategy that ensures the Academy’s alumni are kept informed of current activities and stay connected to the community; generate alumni content for various school publications/posts; increase alumni focused social media presence.
Domestic travel, including some weekend and evening work, is expected;
Other duties as deemed necessary by the Chief Advancement Officer.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree and three or more years of experience in event planning and/or management.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Passion for Cheshire Academy’s core value of meeting students where they are and taking them beyond where they imagined possible.
Demonstrated experience and progressive responsibility in alumni relations or event planning/management with a minimum of three years’ experience.
Successful track record of managing volunteers.
Proven ability to work successfully in a collaborative, team-oriented environment and to effectively manage cross-organizational working relationships.
Capable of handling numerous tasks at once and still meeting deadlines
Superb communication skills, both verbal and written
Extraordinary attention to detail
Ability to work in a diverse environment with students, faculty and staff, both independently and as part of a team
Experience with the management and administration of relational database management systems, preferably Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge; aptitude with Microsoft Word, Google Forms, Excel.
Compensation and title will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Offer will be contingent upon successful completion of a background check.
