Hannah Senesh Community Day School, a progressive, independent K-8 Jewish day school in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, is hiring a full time middle school humanities teacher to join our 2019-20 faculty. Applicants should be creative, thoughtful and reflective educators who value working in a progressive school setting. Responsibilities include teaching English and History, developing a warm, inclusive and supportive classroom environment, and working collaboratively with grade level team members on programs and supporting students. Candidates will possess the following qualifications and dispositions towards education:
MA degree in education
Three or more years experience working as a lead teacher in a middle school
Experience with Teachers College Reading and Writing Workshop preferred
A “whole child” approach to teaching and learning that focuses on growth in academic, social and emotional domains
A progressive approach to education; including differentiating instruction
Experience integrating technology into teaching practice
Collaborates and works successfully as an integral part of a team
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
