Georgetown Day School, a progressive, Pre-K-12 school in Washington, D.C., seeks a Lower & Middle School Physical Education Teacher for the 2019-2020 school year. Primary job responsibilities include teaching physical education and health classes to various grade levels in both the Lower and Middle Schools. Coaching responsibilities include three seasons of Middle School athletics as well as one season of High School athletics. As a diverse, inclusive school devoted to preparing students to live and work in an increasingly globalized and multicultural society, GDS is particularly interested in professionals with demonstrated interest and experience in working in such a school setting. Rich content, creative pedagogy and authentic relationships are essential components of a GDS classroom. Providing those elements, working collaboratively with colleagues, and placing the students’ interests and experiences at the heart of the classroom are essential components of the job.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education or related field is required. Three years or more of teaching experience at the Elementary or Middle School level are preferred. Coaching experience is required.
