The Doane Stuart School seeks an experienced Upper School Math Teacher for the 2019-2020 school year.  The Upper School program focuses on preparing students for college and life. Doane Stuart is built around rigorous intellectual exploration and joyful discovery. Students are challenged to think deeply about concepts and ideas, to make learning personal and relevant, to ask questions and to look for broader truths and understanding. We are looking for candidates who demonstrate a student-centered approach to teaching and learning, attention to the “whole student,” strong differentiation skills, a commitment to culturally responsive pedagogy, and a strong grounding in best practices.

Strong candidates will be prepared and excited to teach a wide range of math classes from Algebra I through Calculus and Statistics.  A full-time Upper School math teacher is responsible for teaching five sections, which may include core math classes and electives, to students in grades 9-12. Part-time math teachers may teach fewer sections as needed. Additional responsibilities for all full-time teachers include partnering with families, assessing and evaluating student progress, advising students, supporting admissions work, and participating in faculty meetings, teacher conferences, school events, and other duties as assigned.
