The Office of the Provost at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso (TTUHSC El Paso) is seeking an exemplary individual to join our team as managing director of TTUHSC El Paso’s learning management systems (LMS).
Position Description: This position plans, designs, implements, manages and directs the overall operation of TTUHSC El Paso’s LMS, with institutional oversight, and provides leadership for staff members.
Identify the best learning systems for TTUHSC El Paso. Train faculty in the use of these systems, including development and evaluation of curriculum on the LMS platform.
Work with faculty, administrators and schools on new program development. Update program(s) and maintain quality online course design and development in concert with the Office of the Provost and school administrators.
Assist with implementation and training on Canvas Catalog and Banner Student.
Leverage available technology to enhance student learning experiences and meet curricular and accreditation needs.
In collaboration with school leadership, supervise instructional design support assigned to specific disciplines.
Research, evaluate and implement new and emerging educational technologies for improving teaching and learning within online courses.
Manage marketing and communications, budget, proposal writing, and oversee grants for the program.
Collaborate with Academic and Disability Support to renew technical standards and ensure ADA and state compliance for access to online content.
Support IT as needed with Banner Student, Canvas integration and any other related applications.
The candidate must have an understanding of online and distance education, program assessment, program development, and course and program design.
Must have Canvas knowledge and experience.
Assist provost and school deans with initiatives dealing with technology-assisted, hybrid and online education.
Ensure compliance with THECB Principles of Good Practice.
Ensure compliance with NC-SARA.
Complete other LMS-related duties as assigned by the Office of the Provost.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred. Seven years progressively responsible management experience required. Education beyond bachelor’s level may substitute for required experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Graduate degree in education, instructional technology, online learning, or related field. Experience with Canvas Learn, Canvas Analytics, Canvas Catalog, Canvas Content and Community Modules. Knowledge of emerging technologies and accessibility. Familiarity with Banner or similar ERP. Experience with e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, etc.).
Additional Salary Information: Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as the institutional pay plan.
