In the California Department of Education (CDE), under the administrative direction of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction and the Chief Deputy Superintendent, the Deputy Superintendent for Operations and Administration Branch is responsible for providing leadership to CDE staff and local educational agencies (LEAs) in the areas of budgetary and accounting services for a major portion of the state budget, human resource services to CDE staff, the apportionment of state and federal resources to LEAs, the assistance to LEAs for all business aspects of schools, including oversight of bankrupt districts, ensuring CDE employees optimal IT and Web services and state of the art Web presence, and to administer the five CDE divisions in the branch: Fiscal and Administrative Services, Human Resources, School Fiscal Services, Technology Services, and School Facilities and Transportation Services.
