Latin School of Chicago is seeking an experienced Lead Teacher to cover a Maternity Leave position from late-November/early-December through mid-March to co-teach literacy, mathematics, and social studies in a self contained Kindergarten classroom. This position works in collaboration with another lead teacher in the room and other members of the kindergarten team. A Bachelor’s degree in education and/or teaching experience is required. Strong candidates will be well-versed in early childhood development and have demonstrated a commitment to inclusivity, collaboration, and professionalism.
Experience implementing Responsive Classroom approach to teaching
Experience establishing and maintaining classroom routines and management
Experience utilizing best practices for teaching early childhood math
Experience teaching Lucy Calkins Reader’s and Writer’s Workshop
Experience embedding technology into the instructional program

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Plan, prepare, and implement lessons on a daily basis with co-teacher
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students
Meet the needs of the whole child and support the social/emotional growth of all students
Manage student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment
Maintain a safe, organized classroom, which supports students’ independent learning, collaboration and choice
Assess student progress towards learning targets, objectives, expectations, and/or goals for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents, and administration
Establish and maintain appropriate relationships with students, parents, staff, and community members by communicating in a tactful, courteous, and confidential manner
Attend and participate in all aspects of lower school life (grade level meetings, vertical team meetings, assemblies, parent communication, divisional and cross-divisional meetings)
