Concord Hill School, an independent school in Chevy Chase, Maryland, is seeking a long-term substitute math teacher for our lower school math program (K-3). The position is part-time from 8:30am-12:30pm and will start November 18, 2019 and ends February 25, 2020.
Experience with young children ages 3 to 8 years old
Ensure students receive the required instruction according to the school’s curriculum
Teach prepared lessons and prepare own instruction materials
Maintain student records regarding grades
Assign and grade homework and class assignments
Consult with administrators on their responsibilities during the primary teacher’s absence
A BA/BS degree required, degree related to education or math preferred.
Lower School Teaching and/or Math Teaching Experience Preferred
Candidates must already have or must be willing to undergo a criminal history check (fingerprinting) through the State of Maryland.
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Ability to interpret prepared lessons and successfully instruct students using these materials
Able to successfully manage the classroom and determine when disciplinary action is necessary
Can observe and evaluate students on both individual assignments and over the course of the instruction
Communicates effectively with teachers, administrators, and parents to ensure student success
