Currently seeking an Assistant Superintendent for the Mariposa County Unified School District and County Office of Education.
Under the direction of the Superintendent of Schools, the Assistant Superintendent serves as the Superintendent’s designee in the absence of the Superintendent and is vested with the authority of the Superintendent to manage the day-to-day operations of the Mariposa County Unified School District. The Assistant Superintendent is responsible to assist and support the Superintendent in all areas necessary for the effective operation of the school district and the implementation of school board policies. This responsibility includes assisting the Superintendent with the general administration of effective educational programs and services, efficient business operations, district projects, and all other district involvements, and for successfully meeting district goals. The Assistant Superintendent is a member of the Superintendent’s cabinet and assumes various leadership responsibilities at the direction of the Superintendent. The Assistant Superintendent is directly responsible for labor relations, negotiations and for oversight of all other human resources functions including staffing, hiring, leave administration, policy administration, performance management and record keeping. The Assistant Superintendent is responsible for developing positive working relationships among staff and good rapport between the district and the community.
Successful applicants will demonstrate how they meet the following qualifications to serve the district in this role:
Minimum 3 successful years classroom teaching experience
Minimum 3 successful years experience in public school administration and supervision
MA Degree in education or related field
Valid California Administrative Service Credential required
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people
Valid driver’s license
A strong skill set in Human Resources and familiarity with multiple departments related to district operations.
Additional Salary Information: Placement of new personnel shall be at the discretion of the Board, based upon the Superintendent's recommendation, but related to education and experience. Annual salary based currently on 2018-2019 schedule. 2019-2020 schedule is currently under review.
*A stipend of $1500 per year shall be paid to Administrators with a doctorate degree from any accredited institution, as recognized by one of the six regional accrediting agencies.
*A stipend of $1000 per year shall be paid to Administrators with a masters degree from any accredited institution, as recognized by one of the six regional accrediting agencies.
Evidence of successful completion of the program shall be filed in the form of a transcript, certified by the accredited institution(s), of work taken, grades earned and degrees awarded.
