Position Purpose: Perform a range of tasks to support classroom teacher, meet needs of all students, and ensure quality instruction for students. Support and strive for an ongoing increase in quality classroom environment. Act as a nurturing and encouraging influence while empowering students through programs designed to enhance their academic and social achievements.
Provide a supportive environment in which children can learn and practice appropriate and acceptable individual and group behaviors
Provide activities and opportunities that encourage curiosity, exploration, and problem solving appropriate to the developmental levels and learning styles of children
Develop weekly Digital Creative Curriculum Lesson Plans
Develop a Quality Improvement Plan to ensure classrooms/sites strive toward achievement of highest levels of state’s quality improvement system
Ensure lesson plans are complete and are aligned with the Early Learning Outcomes Framework and the Illinois Early Learning Standards
Maintain current classroom record detailing children’s allergies, diets, and medicine
Use COPA for daily attendance, meal count, service plans, and student interest inventories
Enter child and teacher data into database and use this data to support school readiness goals, and trends in classroom
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
Current Professional Educators License (PEL) with endorsement in self-contained Pre-K – 2 or Pre-K – 3 with optional Bilingual Endorsement
Meet Department of Children and Family Services Requirements for Licensure
Minimum 2 years working in early childhood education, child health, mental health, and familiarity with the fields of disabilities services and parent involvement
Provide support, training and technical assistance to staff regarding the planning and implementation of culturally-responsive, developmentally appropriate curriculum and experiences
Ability to sit on floor, bend at waist, kneel and/or stoop 75% of the time
Bilingual language abilities a plus but not required
Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills with cultural competence for working with economically, ethnically, and culturally diverse populations
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds.
