Templeton invites teachers passionate about innovative, collaborative education and their specific content area, and welcomes administrators with teaching experience who are passionate about staff and student culture to apply. Our middle school STEM faculty teach in 2-hour blocks 4 days a week, in an integrated project-based math and science curriculum. The mission of Templeton Academy is to transform the lives of its students by providing highly individualized, experiential education in small classes with dedicated and skilled educators. We are small enough to be personally in touch with every individual, yet large enough to offer a broad range of courses. Our model combines a warm, inviting atmosphere with great teaching that allows our students to flourish.
We are a microschool with three character values: kindness, curiosity, and growth mindset. We look for these in our teachers as well as our students. We require weekly lesson plans primarily based in experiential learning, weekly observations, and weekly coaching sessions. We are a very active school and this teacher is required to plan at least one off-campus activity a week, as well as chaperoning a daily exploratory block, often a 15 min walk off-campus. Class periods are 2 hours long. 1 hr daily planning plus lunch. No academic class on Fridays (whole group cross-curricular and community meeting days)TA Nashville hopes to reflect the city and create a supportive community with an inclusive culture.
