The Nightingale-Bamford School English department seeks a full-time English teacher to begin in September 2020.
Candidates should be passionate about teaching a wide-ranging curriculum of canonical and contemporary texts reflecting a diversity of voices and experiences in all genres, and they should be committed to educating both middle- and upper-school students. At a minimum, they should possess an undergraduate degree in English or a related field and some teaching experience at the middle and/or upper school level.
Nightingale-Bamford’s English teachers collaborate to create curriculum and assessments, so candidates should be prepared to work as active members of grade-level teams. Informed on best practices, they should be skilled in conducting writing workshops as well as leading literature discussions. All Nightingale faculty participate in and contribute to the school community outside of the classroom.
