Fraser Woods Montessori School is seeking an experienced middle school Humanities teacher to cover a maternity leave for approximately 6-8 weeks starting March 30, 2020. Humanities integrates English, Language Arts, and Social Studies to make learning more authentic.

Primary Responsibilities: 

• Teach in alignment and support of the mission and values of Fraser Woods Montessori School.
• Use effective and positive teacher language to promote academic and social growth, as well as rapport with every student.
• Teach lessons that are active and engaging; and teach units and educational experiences as outlined in the curriculum.
• Provide families general information through weekly blog posts and email families on an as- needed basis to provide feedback on student needs.
• Teach 3 sections of Middle School Humanities, an elective class, and a daily advisory.
• Lead a student-centered classroom environment and provide activities and opportunities that encourage skill development such as communication, curiosity, exploration and problem-solving.
• Create a supportive and caring classroom environment in which students can learn and interact positively with one another; through student-centered instruction and authentic assessment.
• Maintain an open and cooperative relationship with students, colleagues and parents.
• Participate in Middle School faculty and departmental meetings; performing various faculty supervisory duties.
