JOHN BROWN UNIVERSITY College of Education and Human Services seeks a full-time faculty member to teach in the traditional undergraduate and graduate programs beginning August 1, 2020. Responsibilities include but are not limited to teaching courses in secondary curriculum and instruction, supervising interns, advising teacher candidates, assisting in accreditation reporting, and committee service. Other teaching opportunities may include international educational trips and various courses on topics of expertise.
The Department of Education is housed with the College of Education and Human Services and is comprised of traditional undergraduate and graduate programs. The department prepares students for elementary and secondary teaching in public or private schools and is committed to preparing competent teachers to work with all learners in a multicultural society. All programs are approved by the Arkansas State Department of Education and are accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).
An earned doctorate is preferred; master’s degree required. Minimum 5-years teaching experience in a public/private school is necessary. A state-issued teaching license is required. Administration and ESL certification is preferred. Experience working in diverse situations and with diverse learners (including English as a second language and special education) is desirable. A passion for teaching and spiritual formation within the evangelical tradition is required.
Effective teaching experience in higher education, evidence of scholarly potential, and a commitment to Christian higher education are essential.
