Flintridge Prep seeks an innovative, personable teacher to launch and teach a Mandarin program for the 2020-21 school year, when Mandarin will join Latin, French and Spanish as the school’s fourth language. The position will be full-time, even though the teaching load will not be full-time at first. Given this, we expect the ideal candidate not only to teach the necessary language levels but also to engage in collaborations with our Global Studies program on speakers, projects, conversations and more. Background in other disciplines is also a plus. This person would also be open to cross-curricular work with existing classes, enhancing our current study of China and the East in, for instance, the senior electives of International Relations and Border Politics and the ninth-grade World History course. The job also requires the ability to work well with colleagues, communicate effectively and appreciate teenagers. Ultimately, the right candidate will not only start a language program but also help students, faculty, staff and the community become ever more global citizens.
Employer will assist with relocation costs.
