Flintridge Prep seeks an innovative, flexible, and collegial teacher to be the face of the school’s new maker space. As the school year begins in 2020, we will be opening a new three-story collaboration building, and the maker space will be the anchor for the STEAM-themed first floor. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative self-starter, eager to establish a maker space culture that builds on the significant STEAM work Prep has done over the past several years. This person will be comfortable and forward-thinking with technology and will always be seeking to grow and help others grow. Useful background for this position includes experience with 3D printing, laser cutting, basic coding and DIY projects. This is the perfect role for someone who enjoys tinkering of all kinds and relishes the chance to build upon an already strong program, in conjunction with a variety of departments and the school’s STEAM Coordinator.
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Working with students in the space during and after school, on both curricular and extracurricular projects
Teaching and guest teaching classes
Encouraging faculty to bring classes into the space
Helping faculty with educational technology questions as they arise
Managing the space through building, installation, trouble-shooting and maintenance of equipment
Training teachers and students on use of the space
Upholding safety procedures
This position requires the ability to work well with colleagues, communicate effectively, and appreciate both middle and high school students. Flintridge Prep welcomes and seeks out candidates of all backgrounds.
