Title: Upper School English Teacher, Grades 7-12 Job Status: Full-time starting in the 2020-2021 school year; Exempt
`Iolani School seeks a full-time Upper School English teacher starting in the 2020-2021 school year to teach at least one of our core English courses (grades 7-10) and/or electives to upperclassmen. The position requires ongoing collaboration with teaching teams at the course and grade level.
In addition to being active participants in our vibrant learning community, we are looking for educators who will inspire and support our students. The ideal candidate is dynamic, a strong communicator (both written and oral) and committed to professional growth in their discipline and teaching practice.
Candidates should have a bachelor's degree or higher in English Literature, Speech, or Composition, as well as at least 3-5 years of teaching experience in grades 7-12 at an independent school. A demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction and to design lessons which make use of a wide variety of learning methods is also very important. Candidates should be comfortable designing and executing curriculum as part of a teaching team and embrace the use of instructional technology.
