The Allen-Stevenson School, founded in 1883, is a K-9 independent school for boys with an enrollment of around 410 students. The School seeks a lower and middle school Spanish teacher paternity leave replacement beginning March 30, 2020 and ending on June 5, 2020.
In prospective candidates, Allen-Stevenson is looking for educators with a BA who have the skills and passion necessary to teach Spanish to a wide-range of ages. Candidates should be able to manage a classroom and incorporate multimedia lessons that facilitate comprehension. Candidates will work closely with the Spanish department to prepare and debrief lessons, units, and projects. Candidates must possess the ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, with students, staff, parents, administrators, and the community.
Independently teaching Kindergarten
Co-teaching 1st grade Spanish
Co-planning and independently teaching 2nd, 4th and 5th grade Spanish
Co-facilitating a small 5th grade Advisory group once a week
Co-facilitating early morning extra help in Spanish beginning at 7:45AM three days a week
Writing the end of year reports
Additional responsibilities include grade-level and full faculty meetings as well as assuming duties related to lunch and recess.
