The Director of Teacher Education Admissions, Recruitment and Diversity provides vision and leadership to the Montclair State Universityâ™s, Center of Pedagogyâ™s Office of Teacher Education Admissions, Recruitment and Diversity. This includes overall supervision of the admissions and recruitment staff as well as the processes for undergraduate, transfer, and dual degree/dual certification programs from the point of inquiry through enrollment. Central to this position is the focus on the recruitment of a highly qualified and diverse population of teacher education candidates with a focus on underrepresented students. The Director is sensitive to the student experience and committed to ensuring that all students who engage with the Office of Teacher Education Admission, Recruitment and Diversity are treated with equality, dignity and respect. The Director is an integral member of the Center of Pedagogy and reports to Deputy Executive Director of the Center of Pedagogy.
In collaboration with the Deputy Executive Director, the Director will:
Organize, plan and direct a multi-dimensional, student and market-focused, data informed recruitment strategy to increase teacher education enrollments.
Use research and information technologies to conduct market analysis, develop new markets and analyze all recruitment initiatives, including diversity.
Develop and implement marketing and communication strategies focused on target audiences, employing print, email, web-based and social media platforms.Â
Plan and participate in appropriate recruitment and enrollment activities, both on and off campus, including open houses, information sessions, regional presentations, college fairs, career days, etc.
Initiate contact and develop relationships with both internal and external constituents who support the Office mission and can aid in the recruitment of a highly-qualified and diverse population of teacher education candidates.
Serve as a liaison with departments and student affinity groups campus wide to develop admission efforts aimed at access and equity.
Oversee the day-to-day operation of the office.
Provide leadership and coaching to the admission staff to ensure that all admission and recruitment efforts are carried out effectively and in line with best practices in admissions in higher education.
Oversee the teacher education application and admission process, in consultation and collaboration with the academic departments, Undergraduate Admissions, The Graduate School, and other relevant departments on campus.
Implement and optimize technology to improve the student application and admission process, the administrative user experience, and to ensure the integrity of the data collected.
Remain apprised of student enrollment trends, market data, best practices in admissions, recruitment.
Prepare and present recruitment reports and analysis including enrollment reports and reports on key performance indicators.
Serve as the CoP point person for the creation of articulation agreements with two-year institutions.
Market and promote teacher education scholarship award programs, assist in the evaluation of its applicants.
Collaborate with the Teacher Education Office of Teacher Education Advisement and Retention to facilitate the student transition from admitted to enrolled status.
Provide direct supervision to and budgetary oversight for the Office.
Oversee recruitment related, student programs.
Represent MSU, the College of Education and Human Services, and the Center of Pedagogy at conferences, seminars and meetings.
Participate in CoP teacher education committees upon request.
Identify and develop funding conduits for urban and minority students.
Other duties as assigned.
Masterâ™s degree in education, student personnel services, or relevant field required.
A minimum of three years of college admission and recruitment experience or other field that is directly related to the functions of the position.
Creative and dynamic leadership as well as sound decision making, organizational and administrative skills.
Must be able to work effectively with culturally diverse populations.
Occasional weekend and evening hours to support programmatic activities.
Candidate must also demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with a wide variety of participants including faculty, staff, and students from across the University, personnel in school districts and agencies outside the University.
Knowledge of Technolutions Slate CRM is highly desirable.
Knowledge of BANNER Admission/Student is highly desirable
Excellent interpersonal communication verbal and written skills.
Previous experience developing and/or overseeing the budget of a work unit
