St. Paul’s School announces a search for the position of Chinese Teacher to begin duties in August 2020. This is a one-year position for the 2020-2021 academic year. The Language Department requires students to not only master the mechanics of another language but also to immerse themselves in the arts, traditions, and customs of those who speak it. Under the direction of the faculty – and aided by the multimedia Language Center – students come to understand different ways of thinking and living. The result is a consciousness that is truly global. Extensive offerings are provided in four modern languages – Chinese, French, German, and Spanish – and in Latin and Greek, taught for beginners through a multitude of courses for advanced students.
The Chinese teacher will join a collaborative department and be responsible for the following tasks: Teach four classes of Chinese from beginning through advanced levels. Use on-line resources and other technology to enhance language learning. Promote the study of languages at St. Paul’s School through activities outside the classroom. Possess knowledge of current trends in pedagogy and scholarship. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment working with one other Chinese teacher, with the faculty of the languages department, and with the broader faculty in advancing the mission of the School and the commitment to teaching and learning in a holistic educational environment. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience teaching Chinese language and culture and have an understanding of boarding school life and a commitment to working and living with adolescents and supporting their academic, social, and emotional growth.
As with all positions, St. Paul’s Schools seeks innovative educators who are eager to participate in the academic, athletic, and co-curricular life of this dynamic residential community working and living with adolescents. St. Paul's School is a completely residential, co-educational secondary school in Concord, NH, affiliated with the Episcopal Church and welcoming to all faiths. St. Paul's aggressively seeks applications from candidates who will promote the School's commitment to attracting a highly talented and diverse faculty.
